1969 marked the go back of the Cryogenic Engineering convention, now affiliated with the nationwide Academy ofSciences during the department ofEngineering, nationwide learn Council, to the college of California at la. As in 1962, the Cryogenic Engineering convention gratefully recognizes the help of UCLA, its Engineering and actual Seien ces Extension department, and particularly J. Dillon, S. Houston, H. L. Tallman, and their stafffor serving as hosts to the 1969 Cryogenic Engineering convention. The nationwide Academy of Sciences is a personal honorary association of greater than seven hundred scientists and engineers elected at the foundation of remarkable contributions to wisdom. demonstrated through a Congressional Act of Incorporation, the Academy works to additional technological know-how and its use for the final welfare via bringing jointly the main certified participants to house medical and technological difficulties of large importance. The nationwide learn Council was once geared up as an employer of the nationwide Academy of Sciences in 1916, to permit the extensive group of U.S. scientists and engineers to affiliate their efforts with the Iimited club of the Academy in carrier to technological know-how and the country. The department of Engineering is among the 8 significant Divisions into which the nationwide learn Council is geared up for the behavior of its paintings. Its club comprises representatives of the nation's major technical societies as weH as a few members-at-Iarge. The Cryogenic Engineering convention is a corporation of the department of Engineering.

Twentieth century applied sciences like vehicles, the web, and the contraceptive capsule have altered our activities, replaced our perceptions and encouraged our ethical rules, for higher and worse. Upcoming applied sciences are absolute to satisfy their very own specific social roles. How do we boost this social position as a way to aid the nice dwell and restrict undesired alterations?

In addition, tables of equilibrium properties and enthalpies were supplied for all streams, and a "convergence accelerator" portion was inc1uded in the program. This portion iteratively makes the natural gas flashes, adjusts the composition of the natural gas flash streams, and recalculates the composition of the high-pressure liquid natural gas stream. The iteration continues until the composition of the nitrogen-rich bleed stream obtained from the flash stream satisfies the overall plant mass balances on methane and nitrogen.

CHILLER NG. CONDENSER , IPARTIALI NG. CONDENSER 2 10 Fig. I. LNG fiowsheet. 5 million scfd LNG plant designed and under eonstruetion for a eommereial gas supplier [1]. Figure 1 illustrates the proeess flowsheet. It is a eombination easeade and expander plant using propane and ethylene as the two refrigerants. The ethylene eompressor is driven by an expander, while the propane feed and reeycle eompressors are driven by reeiproeating natural gas engines. Three evaporators and five eountereurrent heat exehangers are used.

In some cases, it is desirable to obtain c10sely spaced liquid phase points as a function of total pressure, with few, if any, gas phase points. ine facilitate such measurements, allowing one to increase the system pressure in small increments and to take corisecutive liquid sampIes with continuous operation of the recirculation pump. The apparatus also may be used to deterrnine the three-phase loci for mixtures by the method reported by Mullins [5]. In order to facilitate location of the phase change in systems whose heat offusion is small compared to the heat capacity ofthe equilibrium cell assembly, the internal thermocouple was introduced to act as a more sensitive sensor, essentially, employing the technique of differential thermal analysis.
